Is it true that if you want to get the grant, either couple must be working for at least 1 yr continuously? If this is the case, then the fresh graduate will not be able to get the grant if they want to apply the flat immediately after their graduation, so they might have problem with their 1st downpayment.

Since applying for BTO depends on luck (because need balloting) and also it takes about 4 yrs to complete, so it is not surprising that most graduates will apply before they start to work especially the male, by the time when they got their house, they will be 28 or 29 yrs already. :scared-3:

that's why I don't understand why LKY is screaming about low birth rate

it is the result of their policy

there are so many policies not family friendly like high expenses of car usage, expensive childcare, maid levy, stressful PSLE, high BTO prices and long waiting time ...isn't it obvious why SG birthrate will be ranked #1 from bottom in the world soon?

even cut of employer CPF contribution rate from 20% to 12% is a BIG TURN OFF :banghead: So many years already only restored back to 16%

Old man trying to right one of his miscalculations. So by saying this, he gets the whole cabinet to focus on this.

How much policy can they change? And how much 'mind-set' can they modify from 30-40 years of the initial policy?
