View Full Version : Would China be the unexpected Black Swan?

IMO, US Fed / ECB will sooner or later print ... what we should be worried is China as its GDP is slowing down significantly, partly due to crisis in Europe, partly due to policy to control property prices. It is unlikely for China to adopt stimulative measures as it would then start another property bubble. So China is wise to choose to swallow the pills now. Starting from about 2010, the China-A share starts to diverge from Dow ... while Dow stays at 13k, China-A share has plunged to near 2009 low of 1,800

Would China manage to pull a soft landing this time?? :beats-me-man:

Sorry to divert......
Now most of the things are Made in China.
Yesterday I bought a 100% cotton blouse and the instruction is not to tumble dry. I was wondering why.... 100% cotton should be no problem.
Then I looked at the chinese instruction : 不可烘干 and realized that there was
an improper translation. It means cannot put in dryer.

Lucky I took my chinese lessons seriously in school!

one very real risk about today's world is all assets seem to inflate together due to QE effect

commodities, Dow, precious metals, properties, REITs, gaming, bond prices etc

the normal diversification does not work already, if disaster really strikes, your CPF could be the safest

China-A closed at 2109 ... only 15% away from 2009's Lehman's low of 1,800

Compared to Dow, from a low of 7,000 ... it still stays at 13k ... QE really powerful :scared-5:

I am happy that I am a Singaporean who studied Chinese.
Can't imagine learning Chinese as an adult..... It would be so difficult!

Nevermind about being rusty.
If need be just use sand paper and polish and it will be bright and shiny again!
If I can be young again, I would want to be a linguist.

National health authorities say the outbreak has infected at least 20 people, of whom 14 have died. Nine of the deaths were from a single household in the village of Nyanswiga, according to WHO.
A medic who was treating victims is among the dead, Ondoa said.

BTW, Uganda 10y bond yield is 15% :scared-1:
