Spain, Italy bond yields soar on bailout fears

FRANKFURT (MarketWatch) -- Fears that Spain will require a full-fledged sovereign bailout helped push Spanish government bond yields to another round of euro-era record highs Monday. The yield on the 10-year Spanish government bond jumped 0.25 percentage point to 7.46%, according to electronic trading platform Tradeweb. Yields rise as bond prices fall. The short end of the curve saw more damage, with the yield on the two-year benchmark up 0.51 percentage point to 6.08%. Italian bonds were also under pressure, sending the yield on the country's 10-year bondup 0.23 percentage point to 6.37%. The spread between German and Spanish 10-year yields widened by more than a quarter of a percentage point to 6.33 percentage points.

QE3 won't happen anytime soon. And merkel is gaming the markets just before troika's visit to Greece. Going to see a fair bit of turbulence and volatility to put it mildly. Eurusd at 1.20 back to levels where it all started in 1995. Will it drop to below parity last seen in 2000? Hope not!

I realise the market is going from 3000 to 2600, then 2600 to 3000. 4 times already in 1 year.

Wall Street has little concern about Spain as most traders bet ECB will not let Spain die, the real bomb is AAPL missing profit estimate ... afterhours AAPL down 5.5% .. surprisingly nowadays STI very resilient ... it will be interesting to check M3 in June and July

It is very obvious market is extremely polarized between the depression/disaster camp and inflation camp, 3 words "whatever it takes" is enough to send 3y Spanish bond yield tumbling down 10%
