View Full Version : How to deal with illegal parking that Blocks mechanical carpark Lift?
Ok this Situation needs a bit of mental visualisation:
-Project is Located near a night club. Yellow box is drawn outside the carpark lift and wheel clamp sign visible. But inconsiderate people, mostly patrons of the night club, will still park there and block the lift. Residences cannot enter thier carpark when they get home!! and these cars usually parked there whole night!
- Entrance to the Carpark is located in a small lane without a road name. Thus LTA cannot Fine the cars. ( what LTA claimed when a resident called them many times)
- New Project TOP less than a year, MSCT not formed. SO no power to wheel clamp?
- Boutique Project with No security Guard. Nobody to perfom the wheel clamp action even if have power to do so?
- Wheel Clamp liao also no use since the car still cannot go home. Will not solve the immediate porblem.
If you are the resident there, what will you do?
After MCST is form, will they have the legal right to arrange for tow truck to tow the cars away and have the expenses paid by the illegal parker?
A friend lives there and suffered such inconvenience .

see, The Idoit White car parked there, the Resient's black car got no space to enter the carpark lift on the right. He tried doing dunno How many Point turns in vain.
Waited an hour and honk but no sight of idoit white car owner. He called LTA, 2 Officers came but also cannot do anything, just stand there and tok.
My friend very borliao watching all these happened from her window.
What do you guys think?

Do the resident have the legal right to do so??
and who will pay for the tow truck?
Why buy such location in the first place,

A sharp metal object will solve some of the issue.
Make it 2-way road and then put road dividers before and after the yellow box.
Calculate the total losses sustained by that resident and impose a legislation to demand the total losses in cash from that irresponsible driver. Just like those car workshops that balloon the cost of repair for accident vehicles which can make claims from insurance companies. $2k work can become $20k. That white car driver will learn a painful lesson not to be so careless ever again! :spliff:

Traffic Rule:
26. Any person who drives or rides, or turns a vehicle or part thereof into a yellow box indicated by yellow lines connecting the 4 corners of —
(a)
a road junction and hatching the junction diagonally, notwithstanding that the light signals controlling the movement of vehicular traffic permit him to do so; or
(b)
an area of road at a road junction on any part of the road as defined under rule 7(8) of the Road Traffic (Traffic Signs) Rules (R 33), notwithstanding that he has the right of way,
and by doing so causes obstruction to any other vehicle proceeding to or along that road junction or any part of the road shall be guilty of an offence.
It is an offence to park at yellow box, TP should be able to fine the vehicle. But in the first place, the yellow box is approved by TP/LTA?

if residences can come out additional fund, then hire a guard during certain hours just to block cars parking there.:2cents:

The car white colour make a good back ground colour...
Put up a motorised dustbin at the entrance, with build in sensor to detect residents transponder. These dustbins served well for landed owners.

All these "boutique" apartments are really a nightmare. i would suggest only people who don't drive buyrent such apartments with mechanical car park and no breathing space. It is clearly not targeted at the driving crowd.

Anyway I guess the carpark problem is one of the many things the buyers did not think of then they buy a development like that.
And i heard from my friend most of the units are tenanted. Tat poor black car belongs to a Japanese Expat who just moved in few months ago, and he was stuck in the lift before!!!
So Suay. I wonder if he will break the lease.

If in such a situation, can you break the car's window and lower handbrake and push car to one side? Will you be charged? If charged, then what type of charge? Can you countercharge the car owner for blocking your way?
Can not get the car, go after the night club. Call the police, the night club have vice, illegal under age girls, call CNB........, call the fire station.....call the immigration department...
"Accidently" have bowling ball drop from high floor. :D
The problem with this issue is that the road is not part of the condo property. Maybe you can get the government to draw the zig-zag lines opposite at that spot to discourage parking there.
Another solution is to form the MCST soon and put up a big big sign informing people that the wheel clamps will be enforced. In addition, install a flood light to shine on that spot and this will make potential culprits feel exposed if they park their cars there.
Finally, since there are no security guards to clamp the cars, perhaps the MCST can reward "volunteers" by giving them a share of the FINE. For example, if the FINE is $200, 50% will be paid to the volunteer who performed the clamping action.
I note your friend's window is in a strategic location to catch these irresponsible drivers. Perhaps she can do wheel clamping part-time to cover some costs.

As for towing away of cars, it can't be done since the cars don't belong to you or on your property.
Rent or buy a 2nd hand mini forklift & park beside the entrance, stack those clubbers cars across the drain.

solution = go hardwareshop or homefix and buy those very solid "pen knife", slash all 4 tyres, you need to cut on the side wall of the tyre so the tyre cannot be patch and must change new ones. every resident need to do their part. And voila!!! less than 4 weeks, nobody has a parking problem. :D

Are you sure your MCST has the right to wheel-clamp the vehicle in that yellow box since that yellow box's compound does not belong to your estate? Since no right to wheel-clamp, sure no right to tow away right? :beats-me-man:

Voila... Less than 4 weeks , nn moreparking problems cos all resident hauled to court for vandalising related crimes....:D
