IF Singapore would to issue a 3rd casino license where do you think it will be?
For me, I think the former Tang Dynastic site in JLD will be a perfect site and I have good reason to believe it will happen because Singapore government have invested alot of money and effort into redeveloping the area and all they need is to have a cash machine to plant a theme park in that area.

I honestly dont think so because having a casino in that area will have diminishing returns because it will only eat into the existing MBS business.
I dont have insider information, but every time I analyse the JLD plan, somehow I think the missing puzzle to what the government is trying to do in that area is to have a world class theme park that can only happen if there is a backer like a casino operator.

My guess is 3rd casino will be in east..Changi Area.
I think it will not be on the mainland......perhaps on one of those larger islands to the South of Singapore.....there, in addition to a casino, an entire weekend getaway resort could be developed. Similar to those in the Bahamas.
after a few rounds of checking, the most likely place is one of the Southern islands...
If u take a ride out of Sentosa, u will understand the islands there are more of resorts.
Land in main land will be for business purposes.

ideally yes, however this will be seen as government doing something to "benefiting" themselves and the rich and famous instead of the public. And I also think the the southern island are strategic lands which Singapore government would want to use it for reclamation instead of using it for casino.
My guess is that for the next casino, government will definitely want to extract the maximum value out of it instead just giving away land to casino operator, and the most logical choice will be to do it at JLD.

dont bet against it. When the economy go south, PAP will do it. At the end of the day, what difference does it make if it is 2 or 3 casino? What the government want is to have a casino operator to create a catalyst to boost the economy.
Can you imagine the impact of having a Disneyland like theme part in Jurong Lake district and a casino? The entire place and those within 1-2KM radius will go boom town charlie.

I am not making fun of him .. I am just saying he could be like Gollum who is a victim of The Ring ... he could have committed suicide because he lost everything to the casinos but I doubt it will be reported at all if that is the case

Some people in PAP are fully aware of the social cost of casinos but yet they choose to compromise a little by allowing SC/SPR to pay $100 per day to gamble. In Korea Jeju Island, Koreans cannot enter at all.
So why still allow SPR/SC to enter? If really want to allow the rich to entertain themselves, why not only allow top income bracket to enter??

Your friend is most likely to be BS you lah.. If there is going to be a 3rd casino license, they will still have to go through a tendering process, so how would your friend know the Disneyland will be definitely be partnering the winning proposal?

The two existing casino are only granted 10 years without additional competition.
So, it is time now the Govt will finalise the site, call for RFP, tender, construction. All these will take about 5 - 6 years to complete.

All big casinos are lcoated in Las Vegas. Visitors get to see few of them in a walking tour. Maybe it make sense to build side by side.

My gut feel is that government will choose a different site to build the 3rd casino as having an additional casino in the similar site will have diminishing returns, not to mention the stress on infrastructure. To me the most logical choice to will be to build one at the JLD.
If you look at the JLD masterplan, they have allocated huge piece of land in the former tang dynasty and Jurong lake area for hotels and future family attraction (bottom left). And in order for such project to take off, they will need to have a world class theme park, perhaps similar in scale to RWS. Actually if you look at the drawing, doesnt the building layout etc, remind you have RWS? :)
As for the social impact, government could always issue the 3rd casino license that is restricted to PR and foreigners only.

Will never happen.... disneyland already in Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong kong, too many in Asia liao, plus Disney will never tie up with a casino.... not the right mix...
So if there is another casino it will be more a totally brand new concept...

This is not so much about what the high rollers want but what the government want to gain from issuing another casino licenses.
Considering the cost and risk of running a theme park in Singapore, the only possibility for a private company to bid for it is to package the project with a casino licenses.
Perhaps the scale of this casino will not be as costly and grand as RWS and MBS, but I am sure when the casino is built, gambler will come.
