Dear XXXXX,

Thank you for your email and for bringing this discriminatory tax to my attention.

As the Rapporteur (the lead MEP) on the EU-Singapore FTA, I will raise this issue with the EU's lead negotiator with Singapore.

Regards,

Dear Mary Honeyball, Syed Kamall, Claude Moraes, Charles Tannock,
Gerard Batten, Marina Yannakoudakis, Sarah Ludford and Jean Lambert,

I understand the EU is currently negotiating a Free Trade Agreement
(FTA) with Singapore. As part of the FTA, I would request that the EU
will ensure equality for EU citizens in respect of the purchase of
real-estate in Singapore.

A few months ago, Singapore govt slapped a 10% tax only for foreign,
including EU citizens, when purchasing real estate in Singapore. No
such duty exists for Singapore citizens when they purchase real estate
in the EU. Would expect the FTA to address this discriminatory tax -
please ensure that it does.

Yours sincerely,

XXXXX

There are already existing FTAs granting remission of ABSD to foreign buyers from certain countries.

Yup! Thats why it's called negotiation. If that's their terms and we don't like it we can always walk away from it.

btw US citizens already exempt from ABSD.
