View Full Version : Words of WISDOM...
Think about it a old man once told me....
Son...its NOT your fault if you are born poor but ITS your fault if you die poor....:(
how true....

"Go and buy a property now if you need it for own stay instead of renting"
Paper money will return to its intrinsic value of zero - Voltaire.
"Go and buy a property now if you need it for own stay instead of renting"
Wow - disagree with that one. Time and a place for everything under the sun..... including short term renting.

Depends on how short is short, u may rent and hope for prices to fall but end up paying 2-3 or even more years extra rental
"Go and buy a property now if you need it for own stay instead of renting"
tks bro i already got one property small little hdb...now waiting to buy when time is right already factored in my rental loss for one year after i sold my PC...so i am NOT as bad off as those who never wear cond%m:D

i thought about it and i told myself...how HIGH are condo prices going to go...in 1 to 2 years time when market is FLOODED with HDB/PC do you from the BOTTOM of your heart really really think prices are going to go FLYING upwards from where they are today...i know this is a VERY sensitive topic...in a property forum...so whatever it is we all got our OWN game plans cos we are all in different quadrents of our lives...some young/some old/some rich/some poor....so lets just hope everybody can HUAT BIG BIG with their plans...;)
U may b miscalculating if u r planning to buy new OCR or RCR condo. Govt is increasing BTO n developers r pushing up EC prices. Nearby condos will reduce their discounts to maintain e gap.
Yes, I will never compromise my family in the future to play this property investment game. 1st own-stay property should never be traded like investment. Causing the entire family to move and paying for rent in hopes of getting a good buy in the near future is the stupidest move. No $ dont play property :2cents: :D :cheers5:
For property investment, one has to take the timeline longer.
KBW is smart, first, he has addressed all the first timers, and now the second timers. Thereafter, when the subscription rate for BTO is low, then he will drop the BTO supply. The cost of holding unsold stock for HDB is too high.
BTO will go ahead with a subscription rate of 70% (not too sure), there will be balance stock as contingency for the market.
So long as the political issue surfaced in the last GE is addressed, then he is safe.
Private property market is a free market and govt should not have too much intervention.

I share your reasoning and logic with regards to the future property market. The situation is very different from the past. Thus we cannot extrapolate the future based on the present without considering the supply that is coming on stream. I really hope I am wrong. But I am preparing for the worst.

Totally agreed ... Saw many families sell house then go renting,
Waiting for price fall....so as to buy back at lower price...

What if they turn out to be right and they earn $200k?
What if they turn out to be right and they earn $200k?
What if they turn out to be wrong and lose $200k rental over the years + no roof over their head?
Conclusion: don't gamble with ur home:2cents: :2cents:

Regardless whether money is made or lost, the "nomadic" lifestyle is certainly not very healthy for the kids.
In a rental home there is no sense of belonging. The feeling of home "comfort" is not built up thru' the years. Familiarity of surroundings create a sense of security and give kids spare capacity to enjoy their childhood and make firm friends.
Play with property by all means, but the place where the family resides is not just another property but a HOME.
I know of some people who sold in 2009 predicting a crash and are now still "living out of a suitcase" (in their words) and at the "mercy" of their landlords. If the rental becomes unfavourable, they have no choice to pluck themselves out to rent somewhere else. If you visit their rental house you will see big boxes stacked in every corner ready to be moved anytime.
If you have only one property and intend to "play" with it please consider carefully. Just my 2cents.

Ya. Let It B. B for BTO.

Kids born from such family have sense of dislocation, they think they are man/woman of the world (when actually they fine it difficult to attach or commit themselves to anything or anyone), they are always on the lookout for something new (can be good or bad depending on what kind of action it results in), they tend to be easily dissatisfied and not shy to voice out loudly, and are quite spoilt - expecting people to change things to suit their preference... I say this coz I know of a few cases...
There is a story circulating in elitist family circles. Originally, when the forces take over SIT to make it into a new outfit, they had a headache what to name it. Then they went back to roots and reflect on what questions they ask everyday of office... HOW many DO i BUILD? Thus HDB the name... Till today they still cant get their act together on the answer to the age old question - How many Do i Build.
