SINGAPORE: Singapore's National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan has been appointed chairman of the ruling People's Action Party's new central executive committee (CEC) on Wednesday.

He took over from Mr Lim Boon Heng, who remains a member of the CEC.

Mr Lim had stepped down at the recent General Election.

The overall membership of the CEC remains unchanged, consisting of 12 members elected at the 2010 PAP Party Conference and six co-opted members.

Dr Yaacob Ibrahim remains as vice chairman.

Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean is now the 1st assistant secretary general while Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam, the 2nd assistant secretary general.

The new treasurer is Minister in the Prime Minister's Office Lim Swee Say, while Law and Foreign Affairs Minister K Shanmugam is the assistant treasurer.

Health Minister Gan Kim Yong takes on the organising secretary role with Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen.

Senior Minister of State Grace Fu is the new chair of the Women's Wing.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong remains as secretary general and Mr Teo Ser Luck will continue as chairman of the Young PAP.

The other members of the CEC are Mr Goh Chok Tong, Mr Lee Kuan Yew, Mr Wong Kan Seng, Mr George Yeo, Mrs Lim Hwee Hua, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Ms Indarenee Rajah and Mr Teo Ser Luck.
